Police Pension Remedy: FOI release

Information request and response under the Freedom of Information (Scotland) Act 2002.

Information requested

How many retired police officers have you written to offering them their McLeod pension remedy excluding any ill health retirement cases?

Furthermore, I would like to know the breakdown of the numbers between those who completed their 30 years service and those who did not. I am just looking for the numbers of each group.

Response

As of the 28 June 2024, SPPA have not yet issued Remedial Service Statements (RSS) to any retired officers impacted by the McCloud pension remedy. Delays have been caused by various external dependencies. In particular, clarification on aspects of taxation, responsibility for which which lies with UK Government department, is required. Clarity is required in order that SPPA can issue full and accurate RSS to retired members to enable them to make an informed choice.

SPPA remains committed to issuing RSS in accordance with the legislative requirements.
