Information requested
Information about the process and timescales for deciding the salaries of SG employees for the financial year 2025-26.
Response
The 2025-26 pay award will be agreed following the collective bargaining process, which takes place between Scottish Government and the Scottish Government Trade Unions (PCS, Prospect, and FDA). The SG Main Bargaining Unit is made up of core directorates, agencies and non-ministerial offices as detailed in the table at Annex A.
The 2024-25 Public Sector Pay Policy was published on 30th May 2024, and sets out the framework for pay increases for staff pay remits, senior appointments and all public appointments (Chairs and Members to Scottish Public Bodies). This pay policy applies to Scottish Government (except senior civil servants, for whom pay is a reserved matter).
The 2025-2026 Scottish Government pay award will be effective from 1 April 2025. At the time of your request under FOISA, the metrics of the 2025-2026 pay award, or the timescales for an agreement and subsequent implementation have not been decided.
