European Commission reduction in funding: FOI release

Information request and response under the Freedom of Information (Scotland) Act 2002.


Information requested

On 26th June 2024, the Deputy First Minister, Kate Forbes, said this in the Scottish Parliament:

“As I said in my statement on 13 June, and as is detailed in the Scottish Parliament information centre’s briefing, our original allocation of potential funding at the start of the programme was marginally reduced by the European Commission because some of our partners did not meet their annual spending targets.”

Please can you confirm that the reduction referenced here by Kate Forbes is an amount of €157.6m out of the original allocation of €941m. In other words: when Kate Forbes said “marginally reduced”, she was referring to a reduction of 17%.
