Youth for Christ organisation funding: FOI release

Information requested

"Youth for Christ", an organisation which received £26,984 in FY 2022/23 from the Scottish Government under the National Voluntary Youth Organisation Support Fund.

You asked for the following:

  • information about the nature of the project held by Youth for Christ which received this funding.
  • Youth for Christ's application for this fund (redacting any details which may cause privacy concerns).
  • A list of all Scottish Government funds awarded to Youth for Christ between FY 2017/18 and FY 2021/22. Please include the amounts and nature of the fund.

I have provided all of the information held by the Scottish Government. I can also confirm that the information held related to your request has not been redacted as there are no privacy concerns.

While our aim is to provide information whenever possible, in this instance the Scottish Government does not hold some of the information you have requested.

Information about the nature of the project held by Youth for Christ which received this funding.

The Scottish Government allocated grant funding to YouthLink Scotland to support capacity building across national third sector youth work organisations..

Monitoring reports submitted to the Scottish Government by YouthLink Scotland describe the nature of this fund as providing:

  • improved recruitment, engagement and development of volunteers, and increased access to essential workforce development opportunities for paid staff and/or volunteers.
  • Increased access to leadership development opportunities for senior managers and/or senior volunteers to improve strategic leadership.

Youth for Christ’s application for this fund

The Scottish Government allocated grant funding to YouthLink Scotland who in turn administered the National Voluntary Youth Organisation Support Fund in 2022/23. YouthLink Scotland subsequently approved and committed funding to Youth for Christ for three projects from this fund. Application forms are held by YouthLink Scotland as the fund administrator.

The Scottish Government holds grant monitoring reports which offer summary information on applications for the fund. I have attached this information in annex B.

A list of all Scottish Government funds awarded to Youth for Christ between FY 2017/18 and FY 2021/22. Please include the amounts and nature of the fund.

All funds awarded to Youth for Christ between 2017/18 and 2021/22 are listed in the table below. All of these relate to the National Voluntary Youth Organisation Support Fund. The nature of this fund is described in response to question 1.

YouthLink Scotland subsequently awarded funding to Youth for Christ from this Fund.
