Conversion therapy/practises meeting: FOI Release

Information requested

A meeting which took place on 28 March 2024 between Emma Roddick and LGBT Youth Scotland and asked for minutes from the meeting, how long the meeting lasted and who attended.

Response

While our aim is to provide information whenever possible, in this instance we are unable to provide some of the information contained within the Minutes because an exemption under sections 38(1)(b) of FOISA applies to that information.

The exemption under Section 38(b) of FOISA has been applied as there was personal information which is exempt from disclosure. This information included people's names, and information relating to those people which could allude to their identity.

This exemption is not subject to the 'public interest test', so we are not required to consider if the public interest in disclosing the information outweighs the public interest in applying the exemption.

The duration of the meeting was 45 minutes, and was attended by Shirley-Anne Somerville, Cabinet Secretary for Social Justice, and Emma Roddick, the former Minister for Equalities, Migration and Refugees.

Other attendees included 2 members of staff from LGBT Youth Scotland, 7 members of the Trans Rights Youth Commission, a member of staff from Ms Roddick’s private office, and a member of staff from the LGBTQI+ Equality Team.
