Remuneration for members of clinical panels: FOI release

Information request and response under the Freedom of Information (Scotland) Act 2002.

Information requested

"Do members of the clinical panels advising the Scottish Government for this document receive in any way payment directly or indirectly for their time/advice, this also includes furthering any sort of advantage professionally for themselves.”

Response

The Effective Prescribing and Therapeutics Division within Scottish Government is made up of both Scottish Government Civil Servants plus clinical professionals seconded from NHS Scotland Boards which are reimbursed for the time that these colleagues spend working with us. Development of the Prescribing – achieving value and sustainability – draft guidance was supported by both our GP Clinical Lead and a Clinical Pharmacist. In addition, we also pulled together an expert Short Life Working Group (SLWG) of clinical professionals drawn from NHS Scotland Boards. The SLWG was chaired by a Director of Pharmacy, members of the SLWG do not receive payment for this service.
