Information requested
1. Availability of EV Charging Points:
- The total number of electric vehicle charging points available at your department's/agency's offices.
- The number of these charging points that are available for employee use.
2. Usage Policy:
- The current policy or guidelines regarding the use of electric vehicle charging points by employees.
- Whether there are any restrictions or costs associated with the use of these charging points.
3. Provision and Maintenance:
- Details of who is responsible for the provision, installation, and maintenance of these charging points.
- Any plans for the expansion of EV charging infrastructure for employees.
4. Employee Benefits:
- Whether charging an electric vehicle at work is considered an employee benefit, and if so, how this is managed or reported.
Response
1. Availability of EV Charging Points:
- The total number of electric vehicle charging points at Core Scottish Government buildings is 66.
- No charging points are available for private employee use unless they are driving an official vehicle.
2. Usage Policy:
- EV charging points are exclusively available for official vehicles. Official vehicles cover Scottish Government-owned or leased vehicles used for business purposes and vehicles used by contractors working on behalf of the Scottish Government.
- Employees must not use the charging points for personal vehicles.
- There are no charges applicable for personal vehicles as charging is not permitted for this purpose.
3. Provision and Maintenance:
- The Scottish Governments facilities management contractor, Mitie, is responsible for installing and maintaining the charging points.
- There are no plans for the expansion of EV charging infrastructure for employees.
4. Employee Benefits:
- The charging points are not available for private vehicles, therefore there is no employee benefits.
