Information request and response under the Environmental Information (Scotland) Regulations 2004.
Information requested
A breakdown on where and to whom the 16 million of taxpayers money was spent on consultation and designs for the A83.
Response
As all of the information you have requested is ‘environmental information’ for the purposes of the Environmental Information (Scotland) Regulations 2004 (EIRs), we are required to deal with your request under those Regulations. We are applying the exemption at section 39(2) of the Freedom of Information (Scotland) Act 2002 (FOISA), so that we do not also have to deal with your request under FOISA.
This exemption is subject to the ‘public interest test’. Therefore, taking account of all the circumstances of this case, we have considered if the public interest in disclosing the information outweighs the public interest in applying the exemption. We have found that, on balance, the public interest lies in favour of upholding the exemption, because there is no public interest in dealing with the same request under two different regimes. This is essentially a technical point and has no material effect on the outcome of your request.
Please find below a table detailing the cost per work activity for Jacobs AECOM Joint Venture and AtkinsRealis WSP Joint Venture (AWJV) up to August 2024 for the necessary design and assessment work on both the medium and long term solutions to the landslip challenges at the A83 Rest and Be Thankful. Please note that Jacobs AECOM undertook the Preliminary Engineering Services work (Design Manual for Roads and Bridges (DMRB) Stage 1 Route Corridor Assessment) and the Strategic Environmental Assessment as well as additional work in advance of DMRB Stage 2 Route Options assessment. AWJV were appointed in September 2022 to undertake completion of the DMRB assessment process including identification of a recommended preferred route option, completion of the necessary statutory process, procurement of a contractor and site supervision of the works.
