Breakdown of Data Protection breach statistics: FOI release

Information requested
You asked for the total number of data protection breaches that have occurred within the Scottish Government during each year since 2018.
You also asked for a breakdown of the year of the breach, the department involved and if possible, the number of individuals affected.

This information is contained within the attached spreadsheet.
To answer your request regarding the information on whether any serious data breaches (as defined under GDPR) have failed to be reported to the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO) within the legally required 72-hour period and the year of the breach, I can confirm that all reportable breaches were made to the ICO within the 72 hour deadline.
