Expenses claimed by Director General for External Affairs: FOI release

Information requested

Could you supply the full expenses claimed and all trips abroad that Joe Griffin, the director general for external Affairs, from the last five years, with a full breakdown of each request?

Response

We have interpreted your request as follows:

• That your information request relates to travel expense claims for Joe Griffin in his role as the Director General for External Affairs – a role he has held since 4th September 2023;
• That you are seeking details of all travel expenses claimed by Joe Griffin in his capacity as Director General Strategy and External Affairs; and
• Within the above, information on travel expenses that were in relation to overseas trips.

To that end, please see attached expenses details for Joe Griffin covering his time as Director General Strategy and External Affairs since he started in post on 4th September 2023. Please note we use 2 systems to process expenses and so the information is split into two documents.

• ‘Doc 1 – iExpenses Summary Report’ – details a breakdown of all expenses claimed (none of these expenses were incurred on overseas trips, they are all for official business expenses within the UK).
• ‘Doc 2 – CTM Expenses Report’ - details a breakdown of Flights, Rail Travel and Accommodation expenses (split into three separate tabs in the spreadsheet), booked through our Corporate Travel Management System (including domestic and foreign travel). Any overseas trips have been marked accordingly.

We have broken down this information into as much detail as our systems provide.
