Princess Alexandria Eye Pavilion (PAEP) temporary closure: FOI release

Information requested

On 17 September 2024, it was publicly reported that the Princess Alexandria Eye Pavilion (PAEP) needed to close temporarily from Monday 28 October 2024 for building repair work.

a) Please confirm whether this was the earliest date on which this need for closure was publicised.

b) When did the Scottish Government first know that the PAEP would need to close for this work?

c) When did the Scottish Government first know that the PAEP needed this work?

d) On what occasions has the Cabinet Secretary for Health held meetings where this closure has been a topic of discussion? Please provide the minutes of these meetings, and list attendees.

e) On what occasions has anyone from the Scottish Government met with anyone from NHS Lothian where this PAEP closure was a topic of discussion? Please provide the minutes of these meetings, and list attendees.

Response

a) While our aim is to provide information whenever possible, in this instance the Scottish Government does not have the information you have requested. The Scottish Government is not responsible for the operational management of the PAEP and announcements regarding its closure are the responsibility of NHS Lothian. The information requested would require to be sought from NHS Lothian. This is a formal notice under section 17(1) of FOISA that the Scottish Government does not have the information you have requested.

b) & c) The Scottish Government was made aware of the need to close the PAEP on 16th September 2024.

d) The Cabinet Secretary for Health and Social Care, Neil Gray, visited PAEP on 26th September 2024 to discuss the temporary closure. A note of that meeting is included in the Annex.

e) No other meetings (than the one mentioned at part d) took place to the date of your request.
