Community Payback Orders Statistics: FOI release

Information request and response under the Freedom of Information (Scotland) Act 2002.


Information requested

1. Can I ask for 2011/12, 2012/13 and 2013/14 and for each year since including the part year of 2024/25 how many Community Payback Orders where there was unpaid work or activity expected there were imposed in Scotland. Each year and the part year should be quoted separately.

1a. How many hours of unpaid work or activity did this relate to in all the years and part year.

2. For each of the years and part year how many of those orders were for

a. murder, b. attempted murder and serious assault, c. robbery, d. domestic abuse, e. sexual crimes, f. rape and attempted rape, g. sexual assault, h. other sexual crimes, I. fire raising and vandalism, j. drink driving.

3. Can I also ask for each of the years and part year, how many of the orders were breached.

4. And can I ask how many of hours of work for each year will not be completed because of breaches or various other reasons for each of the years and part year.'

Response

I enclose a copy of some of the information you requested in an attached excel spreadsheet.

Partial data for 2024-25, is not held. Data collections are not requested until after the full financial year.

Some year’s data cannot be supplied and this has been explained in the notes relating to each table.

This information is only available where a CPO is the main sentence, it cannot be split into CPO requirements. This information is from a different data source and is not comparable to the information supplied in 1, 1a and 3.
