Response
The Scottish Government does not have the information you have asked for because Gaelic signage costs for emergency vehicles are not incurred by the Scottish Government. Gaelic signage costs for police vehicles are incurred by Police Scotland, so for requesting Gaelic signage costs for their vehicles you will have to request that directly at Freedom of Information - Police Scotland . Gaelic signage costs or ambulances are incurred by the Scottish Ambulance Service, so for requesting Gaelic signage costs for their vehicles you will have to request directly at Making an FOI Request (scottishambulance.com). Gaelic signage costs for Fire and Rescue vehicles are incurred by the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service, so for requesting Gaelic signage costs for their vehicles you will have to request that directly at Information requests | Scottish Fire and Rescue Service (firescotland.gov.uk). This is a formal notice under section 17(1) of FOISA that the Scottish Government does not have the information you have requested.
This policy is applied consistently across the whole of Scotland to help demonstrate equal respect for Gaelic and English and secure the status of Gaelic as an official language of Scotland, which is a key aim of Bòrd na Gàidhlig, the principal public body in Scotland responsible for promoting Gaelic development.
The information relating to the number of Gaelic Speakers by Local Authority you have requested is available online from Scotland's Census Website. The relevant data has been attached as an annex to this letter.
