Transport Scotland payments made to Ardrossan-Brodick Ferry Service: FOI release

Information requested

“An itemised breakdown of all payments made to Peel Ports Ltd by Transport Scotland in relation to Ardrossan Harbour in the last decade.

I would like this information to include:

1. All payments related to the operation of the Ardrossan-Brodick ferry service, including harbour fees.

2. Payments made to maintain or improve the infrastructure at Ardrossan Harbour.

3. All payments made associated with the proposed redevelopment of Ardrossan Harbour, including any costs associated with design work, legal agreements, procurement, businesses case and all other activities connected with the redevelopment project.”

Response

1. While our aim is to provide information whenever possible, in this instance the Scottish Government does not have the information you have requested. However, you may wish to contact Calmac at Freedom of Information | CalMac Ferries who may be able to help you. The reasons why we do not have the information are explained in the Annex to this letter.

2. It is the responsibility of Peel Ports Ltd as statutory harbour authority to ensure the harbour is fit for purpose, maintain and upgrade the harbour infrastructure where required and associated costs related to these aspects.

3. All of the information you have requested is available from previous FOI requests made to Scottish government under the following references – 2022/00297832, 2023/00373584 and,2023/00377290. these can be found on the Scottish Government publication of FOIs at Publications - gov.scot (www.gov.scot) Under section 25(1) of FOISA, we do not have to give you information which is already reasonably accessible to you. The Scottish Government does not hold the information requested

The Scottish Government does not have the information you have asked for. The payment of harbour and berthing dues for operating the ferry service from Ardrossan to Brodick is a matter for the operator, CalMac.

As such, I hereby provide you with formal notice under section 17(1) of FOISA that the Scottish Government does not have the information you have requested.
