The total budget allocated to Realistic Medicine and The National Centre for Remote and Rural Health Care.

Response

The Scottish Government and the whole of the public sector faces a financial position that is extremely challenging. It has always been necessary to ensure resources are used economically, efficiently and effectively. The Realistic Medicine budget for 2024/25 was £1.985 million. In September 2024, it was reduced to £1.785 million as a result of the implementation of enhanced spending controls.

As set out in the Programme for Government 2023-24, the Scottish Government has committed £3.03m in 2023-26 to progressing the National Centre for Remote and Rural Health and Care, which launched in October 2023.

A total of £387,000 was made available for the establishment of the National Centre for Remote and Rural Health and Care in 2023 - 2024. A further budget of £974,007 has been made available for financial year 2024/25.

As yet the budget for 2025/26 has not been agreed for either area.
