Information requested
You asked for evidence to support the former Refugees Minister Emma Roddick’s claim in a letter to the UK Government that : "Since October of last year, I have received several hundred letters from people in Gaza pleading to be granted asylum in Scotland”.
Response
I enclose a copy of all the information you requested in the Excel attachment attached to this e-mail.
This a list of cases logged on our Micase system. MiCase is the Scottish Government’s Ministerial and Corporate Correspondence system, where correspondence is logged, acknowledged and replied to.
You will see from the attached spreadsheet that case reference numbers recorded indicate that 247 correspondents from Gaza contacted the Scottish Government seeking asylum in Scotland after 7 October 2023 to the 10 April 2024.
