Scottish Government Directorate budgets for financial year 2024/2025: FOI release

Information requested

The Scottish Government functions through directorates which now number 55 .

I would like a breakdown of each individual directorates budget which includes staff costs .

I would also like to see any performance related data for each directorate .

I ask for this information under FOI.

Response

The attached sets out a table showing the budgets for all Scottish Government Directorate and directly funded entities within that structure. The budgets figures shown are the aggregate of all programme and operating budgets including for staffing.

The totals are for financial year 24/25 and are inclusive of staff costs as requested. It should be noted that though these numbers are accurate at the time of writing, financial year 24/25 is ongoing so they remain subject to change.

The table excludes budgets for those directly funded organisations that sit outside of the Scottish Government Directorate structure (e.g Audit Scotland).

For performance related information by Directorate I received the following from colleges within the Directorate for Performance, Delivery and Resilience.

“Thank you for your request. After careful consideration, we must inform you that we do not hold the specific information requested. Given the broad nature of the request and the varied interpretation of "performance," it would be helpful to clarify the exact data or metrics of interest. The scope, as it stands, could cover a wide range of areas.

Currently, our delivery dashboard does not disaggregate performance at each directorate level. If there are future decisions to develop and provide specific performance products, such considerations will be reviewed accordingly.

To ensure a more targeted and feasible response, we suggest narrowing the request to specific areas or types of performance data. Additionally, if there is any publicly available information relevant to your request, we would be happy to guide you to those resources. We recommend refining the request or considering publicly accessible data sources that may partially or fully satisfy your query.”
