FOI/EIR: section 60 code of practice
Best practice guidance for public authorities on discharging their functions under the FOI Act and Environmental Information Regulations.
This code of practice incorporates guidance on both the Freedom of Information (Scotland) Act and the Environmental Information Regulations.
It stresses, in particular, the best practice to be followed in providing advice and assistance to requesters, and promotes the importance of proactively publishing information.
Additionally, it sets clear expectations as regards the disclosure of the full financial implications of long term and high value contracts such as PFI/PPP contracts.
This version of the Code, revised following consultation with the Scottish Information Commissioner, came into force on 1 December 2016.
