Statement of Case for the Scottish Ministers and Lord Advocate to the Supreme Court regarding the For Women Scotland Ltd (Appellant) v The Scottish Ministers (Respondent) hearing.


The Supreme Court will hear the appeal by For Women Scotland Ltd on the issue of whether a person with a full gender recognition certificate (“GRC”) which recognises that their gender is female is a “woman” for the purposes of the Equality Act 2010 on 26 and 27 November 2024. The issue arises in the context of statutory guidance in relation to the Gender Representation on Public Boards (Scotland) Act 2018.  The document published here is the Statement of Case for the Scottish Ministers and Lord Advocate.
