Freedom of information policy objectives: 2024 to 2026
Information on the actions and priorities of three workstreams, to improve the operation of FOI rights in Scotland.
Workstream 3 - Maintaining full FOI coverage of public sector in Scotland
Objective 3.1
Undertake a comprehensive review of Schedule 1 of FOISA, using the section 4 power to make appropriate updates to entities listed. This will include consideration of the status of any publicly owned companies whose status is considered to be not currently subject to FOISA, or whose status is uncertain.
Actions to deliver
- engage across Government and public sector to identify bodies currently absent from Schedule 1, and any other updates required
- share outcomes and receive input from stakeholders
- propose and lay new section 4 order in Scottish Parliament
Timescale
- scoping work to commence as early as possible in 2024
- review and stakeholder engagement to take place in 2025
- new section 4 order to be laid before Scottish Parliament in 2026
