  2. On 16 November 2022, what is the specific total funding available to the Scottish Government for 2022-23

Response

Request Part 1:

On 16 November 2022 total amounts committed by the Scottish Government were £56,179.5 million. This reflects the amounts published in the 2022-23 Scottish Budget on December 2021 plus the additional £120 million that was announced by the Cabinet Secretary for Finance and Economy during Stage 2 of the Budget Bill.

The draft Autumn Budget Revision (‘ABR’) was laid in parliament on the 1 November 2022. Details of the ABR can be found online here.

The ABR will increase total committed funding to £56,985.1 million. The ABR has been agreed by the Finance and Public Administration Committee and will receive parliamentary approval on 10 January 2023.

Request Part 2:

Following the laying of the draft ABR the Scottish Government retained £94 million of unallocated funding which are available for deployment in 2022-23. This balance is made up of £58 million of resource, £28 million of capital and £8 million of financial transactions. All of this funding is fully committed and will be reflected in the Spring Budget Revision which will be published in early 2023.
