Petition for judicial review of the UK Government’s Order under Section 35 of the Scotland Act 1998 on the Gender Recognition Reform (Scotland) Bill.
In April 2023 the Scottish Government lodged a petition with the Scottish Court of Session, seeking a judicial review of the UK Government's use of Section 35 of the Scotland Act to stop the Gender Recognition Reform (Scotland) Bill going forward to Royal Assent.
On 18 August 2023 the UK Government published their answers to the petition and Note of Argument. The answers published are those as adjusted to 15 August 2023, meaning that the previous version of the petition on this website was out-of-date. The adjusted petition and Notes of Argument are attached.
