Title of Policy
Genomics in Scotland: Building our Future. A five-year national strategy (2024-2029).
Summary of aims and desired outcomes of policy
The vision of the Genomics in Scotland strategy is to establish an equitable, person-centred and rights-based genomic medicine service to improve health outcomes for people in Scotland and better enable us to use genomic information to support disease prevention and early detection.
The strategy aims to improve access to genomic testing and build strong foundations to allow Scotland to take full advantage of developments in genomic medicine. To meet these ambitions, we have identified eleven areas outlined in the strategy. Each area sets out context and where we want to be by the end of the strategy term.
