The Cabinet Secretary for Net Zero and Energy, Gillian Martin MSP, opened the meeting and welcomed attendees to the meeting at Forth Valley College. Ms Martin introduced herself as co-chair alongside Rt Hon. Ed Miliband MP, Secretary of State for Net Zero and Energy, and also welcomed Rt Hon. Ian Murray MP, Secretary of State for Scotland, and Michael Shanks MP, Minister for Energy.

The co-chairs reiterated their disappointment with the decision of Petroineos to close Grangemouth refinery and acknowledged the effect of this decision on both the workforce and the community. Both co-chairs committed their support to future opportunities at Grangemouth.

Petroineos provided an update on the refinery situation and the support being provided to the workforce. 

Forth Valley College presented on the skills intervention being provided to reskill affected refinery workers, supported by both the Scottish Government and UK Government.

The co-chairs thanked members for their attendance and contributions, reiterating the collaborative approach the Scottish Government and UK Government are taking to support the Grangemouth cluster and wider community.
