Health and social care: winter preparedness plan 2024 to 2025

This winter plan represents a whole system approach to addressing a surge in demand for health, social care and social work services. It sets out actions to help relieve pressure points across the system, applicable throughout the year when we may face increased pressures.

  • The Warmer Homes Scotland scheme, delivered by Warmworks, was re-launched on 02 October 2023 with more funding and help for households to receive a climate-friendly heating system. People can contact Home Energy Scotland to check their eligibility and receive advice on additional support. Applications are assessed by Home Energy Scotland (HES) against the eligibility criteria.   • The Scottish Government's Cost Of Living website has a range of resources including how to get in touch with your local council for help with energy and bills, and has specific advice for older people or those who are disabled, including links to support organisations and information about the benefits that they may be entitled to.
  • The Care Information Scotland website summarises unpaid carers' rights to information, advice and support, alongside details of social work departments and local carer centres to find out more about what is available locally.
