Healthcare Science in Scotland: Defining Our Strategic Approach: Fairer Scotland Impact Assessment
The Healthcare Science in Scotland: Defining our Strategic Approach was introduced by the Scottish Government to develop healthcare science in Scotland. This sets out a vision and ambitions for the profession, and also the key themes in which future work will be undertaken.
Stage 3 Assessment and improvement
What options could strengthen this programme/policy/decision in terms of its impacts on inequalities of outcome?
What are the pros and cons of these options?
How could the programme/policy/decision be adjusted to address inequalities associated with particular groups?
As described, more work is required to fully understand the impact of healthcare science on socio-economic disadvantage more generally.
There is no additional work which can be undertaken at this stage to strengthen this programme/policy/decision in terms of its impacts on inequalities of outcome.
An EQIA has also been carried out as part of this process which should be considered alongside this impact assessment relating to the ‘Fairer Scotland’ duty.
The proposed future governance and delivery structures will include responsibilities to ensure appropriate, robust, impact assessments are carried out.
