The total monthly cost for civil servants includes - in addition to the salaries of all staff who work under the NCS Programme - charges for the NCS Programme to utilise centralised staff such as legal services, human resources, Procurement and SG Health Finance.

We are not able to produce a breakdown of numbers and grades for these services, as many different colleagues may work on providing these services to the NCS Programme alongside their daily roles, and we do not collect data on how many colleagues contribute to providing this service, or their grade.

Question 3:

With regard to correspondence between civil servants or between civil servants and government ministers relating to National Care Service viability, potential pausing or scrapping, we invoke a formal notice under Section 17(1) of FOISA that the Scottish Government does not have the information you have requested. This is because – at the time of your request – no such correspondence categorised by this description exists.

You may wish to note, however, that the Minister for Mental Wellbeing & Social Care - Mr. Stewart - previously wrote to Parliament to ask for a pause on the progress of the bill and to request deferral of stage 1 debate.
