Human rights of children in Scotland: report - child friendly version

Child friendly/easy read version of our action plan 2021 to 2024 progress report.

11. What have we done to make sure that the people who work in public authorities know about and respect children’s rights?

Public authorities help to deliver important services that directly affect children’s daily lives including their schools, health services, libraries and youth clubs. They also provide other services that help children’s families and their communities. We want to make sure that public authorities think about children’s rights in all of their work.

For example, we have developed a range of new guidance to help public authorities understand the new UNCRC Act and what this means for children’s rights in Scotland.

Our new Skills and Knowledge Framework and Training Plan will also help the people who work in public authorities to understand how they can respect children’s rights in their daily work.

We have also put money in a new fund called the Innovation Fund. This helped public authorities try different ways of supporting the children in their communities who are most at risk of not having their rights respected.

These are just some examples of actions we have taken.
