Information requested

1. What percentage of probationer teachers opted for the Preference Waiver Payment during the Student Teacher Probation Allocation Scheme?

2. The number of probationer teachers who opted for the Preference Waiver Payment during the Student Teacher Probation Allocation Scheme?

3. How many probationer teachers did not receive their first preference placement for their probationary year?

4. How many probationer teachers received their first preference placement for their probationary year for the 2022- 23 academic year?

5. How many probationer teachers received their second preference placement for their probationary year for the 2022-23 academic year?

6. How many probationer teachers received their third preference placement for their probationary year for the 2022-23 academic year?

7. How many probationer teachers received their fourth preference placement for their probationary year for the 2022-23 academic year?

8. How many probationer teachers received their fifth preference placement for their probationary year for the 2022-23 academic year?

9. How many probationer teachers did not receive any of their preferences for their probationary year for the 2022- 23 academic year?

10. How many probationer teachers who opted for the Preference Waiver Payment did each council receive for the 2022-23 academic year?

Response

We have assumed that all 10 of your questions relate to the 2022-23 Teacher Induction Scheme (TIS).

1. At time of allocation, 10.2% (rounded) of eligible probationer teachers opted for the Preference Waiver Payment.

2. At time of allocation, 10.2% (rounded) of eligible probationer teachers opted for the Preference Waiver Payment.

3-8, Information on preference placements is held by the General Teaching Council for Scotland (GTCS). This is a formal notice under section 17(1) of FOISA that the Scottish Government does not have the information you have requested.

9. All probationers who express a preference are allocated to one of their five preferred authorities.
