Adult Disability Payment: Independent Review - interim report - easy read

Easy read version of the Interim Report for the Independent Review of Adult Disability Payment, written by Edel Harris OBE.

Communications and engagement

People told me:

People feel they have to wait too long to speak to someone when phoning Social Security Scotland.

People said that they couldn’t get information in the language they need.

I recommend:

Keep trying to make waiting times shorter when people phone Social Security Scotland.

Give people a time when they will get a call from Social Security Scotland and tell them what the call will be about.

Make information easier for more people to read and understand:

  • Make sure information about Adult Disability Payment is available in braille, British Sign Language, Easy Read and other languages.
  • Give clear information on what languages you can get interpreters for and how to get translations.
  • Keep reviewing the Social Security Scotland website to make sure it is accessible.
