Marine licensing and consenting: making a representation on an application

Advice on how to make a representation on an application for a marine licence and section 36 consent.

Large-scale offshore renewable energy projects

Large-scale offshore renewable energy projects require both section 36 consent and marine licences and are usually subject to Environmental Impact Assessment rules, therefore the most stringent and longer consultation periods listed in the other sections of this guide are applied to the package of application materials, which means that in most cases the section 36 consent application, marine licence applications and the associated Environmental Impact Assessment reports and statements are subject to a 42 day consultation period where the project will be located partly or fully in the Scottish offshore area.
