Marine Protection Areas: network designation orders

Marine Conservation Orders or Natura 2000 Standard Data Forms are presented below for all Marine Protected Areas (MPAs), Special Areas of Conservation (SACs) and Special Protection Areas (SPAs) in the Scottish MPA Network.

Nature Conservation Marine Protected Areas can be designated by Scottish Ministers under the Marine (Scotland) Act and the UK Marine and Coastal Access Act 2009. Each designation under these acts has a Marine Protected Area Order providing site details.

Special Protection Areas and Special Areas of Conservation in Scotland are designated and classified under:

• the Conservation (Natural Habitats &c.) Regulations 1994 (as amended)
• the Conservation of Offshore Marine Habitats and Species Regulations 2017 (as amended) in the UK offshore area

Each SAC or SPA (forming part of the UK national site network of European sites) has its own Standard Data Form containing site-specific information.

Offshore MPAs

Inshore MPAs
