Marketing of Organic Heterogeneous Material (OHM): consultation results

Consultation results on the proposed legislative options and scope of marketing organic heterogenous material (OHM) in Scotland.

Expectations on expanding legislation outside of the organic sector.

There is currently no plans on expanding proposed heterogeneous legislation outside of the organic sector within Scotland.

However, Defra is currently running The Seed Marketing (Heterogeneous Material) (Temporary Experiment) (England) Regulations 2023 which started in Spring 2023 to allow heterogeneous material to be marketed in England which is not restricted to the organic sector. Scottish Government will be in close contact with Defra to review the progress of this experiment.
