Marking Of gillnets: EIR release

Information request and response under the Environmental Information (Scotland) Regulations 2004.

Information requested

So is it safe to assume not 1 single gillnet has been examined to see if they comply with this legislation whilst fishing in Scottish waters?

Due to the fact that your request was emailed to the direct mailbox of an official who has been on annual leave, there were regrettably delays with your request being processed internally. For any future requests for written information held, please do not contact any Marine Scotland Official directly.

Any requests for written information should be made directly to our Central Enquiries Unit (CEU) which will prevent any delays going forwards. Details of how to do so can be found on our website here. When you contact our CEU you can always mark any information request for the attention of a particular Official, or if you email the CEU (ceu@gov.scot) you could cc the relevant Official for their information/awareness of your request. Thank you in advance.

Response

We have searched the relevant database for information on the number of gillnets inspections in the last 12 months from 1st August 2021.

The answer to your question is 11 vessels were inspected that were carrying or using gillnets.
