Media reporting on child homicide victims: consultation - easy read

An easy read version of the consultation on media reporting on child homicide victims.

Making sure rules are not broken

If the law was changed, we need to make sure people do not break the rules.

This is called enforcing the law. This can be done when the public report rules being broken. The police might investigate and the person who breaks the rules might get in trouble.

There is usually a punishment for breaking the law. This could be a fine. This means someone has to pay money to the court.

A person might go to prison if they break the law.

We need to think about what the punishment would be for breaking the rules if the law was to change.
