Media reporting on child homicide victims: consultation - easy read

An easy read version of the consultation on media reporting on child homicide victims.

Rest of the United Kingdom

The law says there is anonymity for living child victims in all parts of the United Kingdom (UK). This is important because many newspapers, TV and radio cover the whole of the UK.

If the law changed in Scotland, it would be different to the rest of the UK. This might mean a victim could be named in the news coming from England that is seen in Scotland.

Other governments set the rules for England, Wales and Northern Ireland. We would need to work with these governments on rules for news that comes from these places and is seen in Scotland.
