Mental Health Nursing Review: monthly updates
Brief updates on the work of the Scottish Mental Health Nursing Review for mental health nurses and other stakeholders who are interested in the work of the Review.
October 2024 update
Recent activities:
- the project team attended engagement events with NHS Tayside, Ayrshire and Arran and the CAMHS Nursing Network to seek further views within the Discovery phase of the Review
- ongoing review and consideration of feedback received from the working groups on the draft interim report and the National Mental Health Nursing Conversation Priorities Mapping paper, with the aim to update internal Governance structures over the next month
- the Practitioner Reference Group (PRG) continue to work on the literature review focused on Exploring the Roles, Responsibilities and Job of the Mental Health Nurse: A National and International perspective

- the PRG and Leadership Advisory Group continue to review the initial analysis of the examples of positive and innovative practice received via the mental health nursing review questionnaire
- the LAG and the PRG continue with monthly meetings
Next steps include:
- finalise thematic subgroups and lines of enquiry, with the PRG and LAG and begin deep dive discussions around emerging themes and potential recommendations
- provide update to Governance groups on the work of the Review to date and next steps
- continue to plan further engagement with people with lived experience and carers, as we progress the Review
- finalise planning to host engagement events for students
- finalise planning on engagement with remote and rural colleagues, to ensure their important perspectives are captured as we progress the work of the Review
