Minister for Business, Trade, Tourism and Enterprise and Ferguson Marine Chair Interview: FOI release

Information requested

All items of information held in relation to the briefing prepared for minister Ivan McKee for his Ferguson Marine Chair Interview meeting on 24 October 2022, and all notes and records of the event. This is listed in the Scottish Government's ministerial engagements.

This should include all material prepared for the Deputy First Minister in preparation for the meeting, including briefing papers, emails and media clippings, and all notes and records of the meeting/call, including any media recordings and transcripts, and all related correspondence.

Response

I enclose a copy of the information you requested. While our aim is to provide information whenever possible, in this instance we are unable to provide some of the information you have requested because exemptions under section 30(b)(i) (Free and Frank Provision of Advice), section 30(b)(ii) (Free and Frank Exchange of Views, section 33(1)(b) (Commercial Interests) and section 38(1)(b) (Personal Data) of FOISA applies to that information. More information on this can be found in the annex of this letter.

Some of these exemptions are subject to the 'public interest test'. Therefore, taking account of all the circumstances of this case, we have considered if the public interest in disclosing the information outweighs the public interest in applying the exemptions. Further details of the public interest tests applied to each of these exemptions can be found in the annex of this letter.
