Minoritised Ethnic Women's Experiences of Domestic Abuse and Barriers to Help-Seeking: A Summary of the Evidence
This report provides a summary of UK evidence on minoritised ethnic women’s experiences of domestic abuse, the barriers to help-seeking and reporting abuse, and the social and structural factors that influence women’s experiences.
Structure of the Report
This report starts with an overview of the policy context and background before then setting out the research aims and considerations. The next section covers the methodology for the literature search as well as the scope and the limitations of the evidence base. This is followed by a summary of the key findings derived from the academic evidence reviewed for this report. The findings section comprises of five thematic headings. Each reflects a common theme from across the evidence reviewed, which shapes and influences minoritised ethnic women's experiences of abuse and barriers to help-seeking. The final section provides some questions for consideration and a short summary of suggestions for further research.
