The full business and regulatory impact assessment (BRIA) for the refreshed national events strategy 2024 to 2035.
10. Digital Impact Test
Digital technologies are a central component of the success of Scotland’s event sector and played a particularly central role during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Continuing to harness the significant potential of digital technologies is a central component of the National Events Strategy 2024-2035 across all of the headline strategic outcomes.
Broadly, the National Events Strategy 2024-2035 aims to promote and embed the lessons learned on digital event activities, including during the pandemic. It does not prescribe any operational changes, nor is it likely to result in any adverse impacts on offline businesses.
There are a range of agencies with responsibility for key investment, support, and with a critical part to play in supporting the delivery of the refreshed strategy. A collaborative “Team Scotland” approach between these agencies is vital for success. Planning to harness the potential of advancing technology over the life of the refreshed strategy will be a matter for Team Scotland partners, the event sector and individual businesses. In partnership with the DigitalBoost team, VisitScotland has created digital skills webinars to support the tourism and events sectors[70].
