Automated video identification of marine species (AVIMS) - new application: report
A commissioned report on the development of a web-based computer application for machine learning-based (semi-)automated analysis of underwater video footage obtained during the monitoring of aquatic environments.
Computer Vision Approach
The AVIMS system adopts a detect and track approach. An object detection model is applied to each frame in a video. The object detections resulting from this are passed to an object tracker that joins them into tracks that correspond to objects that are visible throughout multiple frames of a video.
