NHS dental payment reform: equality impact assessment

The Scope of the EQIA

The EQIA assessed the impact of payment reform on protected characteristic groups. In particular, the EQIA considered the oral health needs of people with protected characteristics and whether the increased cost in dental fees would disproportionately impact people from those groups.

Given the concerns around the increased costs, evidence was gathered from Public Health Scotland colleagues to gain a greater understanding on the impact of patients in lower socio-economic groups and a comprehensive review was carried out.
