NHS Scotland Global Citizenship Programme: Equality Impact Assessment Results
The EQIA for the NHS Scotland Global Citizenship Programme has been updated. It concluded that the Programme has a positive impact on those with protected characteristics and that there are no negative impacts on people with protected characteristics working in NHS Scotland.
5. Recommendations and Conclusion
This EQIA has allowed the Scottish Government to consider how accessible the NHS Scotland Global Citizenship Programme is to all NHS Scotland staff members. It has also allowed consideration of how the Programme can support staff members with protected characteristics who may be considering global health work overseas.
The EQIA process did not identify indirect or direct discrimination through the Programme. In addition, the Programme appears to have a positive effect on advancing equality of opportunity for several protected characteristics, a positive effect on promoting good relations for all protected characteristics.
The conclusion is therefore that the NHS Scotland Global Citizenship Programme will generally have a positive impact on those with protected characteristics, and is satisfied that given the evidence gathered there are no overall negative impacts on people with protected characteristics.
