Nicola Sturgeon meetings with Crown Office: FOI release

Information request and response under the Freedom of Information (Scotland) Act 2002.

Information requested

Please can I request information relating to meetings, communication and correspondence between the former First Minister Nicola Sturgeon (including her office, staff and officials) and the Crown Office and Procurator Fiscal Service (COPFS).

This should include – but not be limited to – all information held about meetings, messages or calls from the Scottish Government to Ms Sturgeon’s office and officials and meetings she has had.

Please include information from emails, whatsapp and text messages, minutes of phone calls and meetings, as well as any other relevant sources of information.

I would like all relevant information from 1st February 2023 to 29th March 2023 inclusive.

Response

Please find attached some of the information that you have requested in Annex A.

An exemption under section 38(1)(b) of FOISA (personal information) applies to a small amount of the information requested because it is personal data of a third party, ie names and contact details of individuals, and disclosing it would contravene the data protection principles in Article 5(1) of the General Data Protection Regulation and in section 34(1) of the Data Protection Act 2018.

This exemption is not subject to the ‘public interest test’, so we are not required to consider if the public interest in disclosing the information outweighs the public interest in applying the exemption.
