Information request and response under the Freedom of Information (Scotland) Act 2002.

Information requested

  1. How many GP practices in Scotland have commenced applications for GP sustainability loans?
  2. How many practices have been awarded the loans/received the first round of finance from the GP Sustainability Loan scheme since its introduction?

Response

With regards to question 1, this is a formal notice under section 17(1) of FOISA that the Scottish Government does not have the information you have requested. While our aim is to provide information whenever possible, in this instance the Scottish Government does not have some of the information you have requested.

Loan applications are made directly to Health Boards, Therefore we do not hold information about loans which have not been approved. You may wish to contact Health Boards individually as they should be able to provide more information on loans that have not progressed to completion. It is possible that some loan applications have been commenced and then withdrawn as it became clear the practice does not meet the terms and conditions to be eligible to continue their application.

The answer to question 2 is 15 loans have been awarded since the GP sustainability loan scheme commenced, as at January 2023.
