Pathways of maternity care - patient leaflet: equality impact assessment
Equality impact assessment (EQIA) for the revised pathways of maternity care clinical guidance and schedule and birthplace decisions patient leaflet.
Background
In January 2017, the Scottish Government published The Best Start: A Five-Year Forward Plan for Maternity and Neonatal Care in Scotland. The report contains 76 recommendations which contribute towards the Scottish Government’s aim to put families at the centre of maternity care so that all women, babies, and their families get the highest quality of care according to their needs. It is our vision that mothers, babies, and families are at the centre of service planning and delivery and are kept together as much as possible.
To inform the Best Start, a Strategic Review of Maternity and Neonatal Services in Scotland was carried out. The Review group consisted of representatives from the key professional groups involved in managing and delivering maternity and neonatal services, representatives of the Scottish Government, staff side organisations, third sector representatives and academics working in maternal and infant health research.
