25 Local Housing Allowance ( LHA) is the housing benefit paid to tenants who rent privately from a landlord and claimed housing benefit after 7 April 2008. There are however some tenants living within the PRS who are still in receipt of housing benefit under the Rent (Scotland) Act 1998 due to their circumstances remaining unchanged. The level of housing benefit for these tenants is determined by the Rent Service Scotland.
