Public appointment: Chair reappointed to the Skills Development Scotland Board

The Minister for Higher and Further Education; and Minister for Veterans, announced the reappointment of Frank Mitchell as Chair of Skills Development Scotland.

Chair

Frank Mitchell, former CEO of SP Energy Networks, took up the post of Chair of Skills Development Scotland on 1 October 2018.

Frank has more than 30 years’ experience in working internationally across the energy sector and leading large multiskilled teams across diverse locations and leading business change and innovation. He brings extensive experience of working with key external stakeholders including customers, communities, governments, regulators, and trade unions.

Appointment

This appointment will be for 2 years and will run from 1 October 2024 to 30 September 2026

This appointment is regulated by the Ethical Standards Commissioner.

 

Remuneration

The appointment is part-time and attracts a time commitment of 6 days per month, up to a maximum of £44,160 per annum.

 

Other ministerial appointments

Frank Mitchell does not hold any other public appointments.

 

Political activity

All appointments are made on merit and political activity plays no part in the selection process.  However, in accordance with the original Nolan recommendations, there is a requirement for appointees’ political activity within the last five years (if there is any to be declared) to be made public.   

Frank Mitchell has had no political activity within the last five years.
