Public appointment: Member reappointed to Children's Hearings Scotland Board

The Minister for Children and Young People today announced the reappointment of Beth-Anne Logan as a Member of the Children's Hearings Scotland Board.

Member

Beth-Anne Logan is Scotland’s youngest non-executive director at the time of appointment. She was a co-chair at the independent care review (ICR) and is currently a Promise Development Worker for North Lanarkshire Council. She is the founder and chair of STARR – Scotland’s award winning curated space for secure care experienced people. Beth-Anne is dedicating her career to ensuring our children and families grow up loved, safe and protected so that they can realise their full potential.

Reappointment

This reappointment will be for two years and will run from 1 July 2023 to 30 June 2025.

This reappointment is regulated by the Ethical Standards Commissioner.

Remuneration

This reappointment is part-time and attracts a remuneration of £4487.76 for a time commitment of two days per month.

Beth-Anne Logan does not hold any other public appointments.

Political activity

All appointments are made on merit and political activity plays no part in the selection process.  However, in accordance with the original Nolan recommendations, there is a requirement for appointees’ political activity within the last five years (if there is any to be declared) to be made public.   

Beth-Anne Logan has had no political activity within the last five years.

Background

Children’s Hearings Scotland (CHS) recruits, trains and supports around 3,000 volunteers across Scotland. The volunteer roles are Panel Members and Area Support Team (AST) members. Panel Members make legal decisions with, and for, children and young people in children’s hearings, and AST members provide support and guidance to those Panel Members locally.
