Public appointment: Member reappointed to Orkney NHS Board

The Cabinet Secretary for Health and Social Care, Neil Gray MSP today announced the reappointment of Joanna Kenny as a Member of Orkney NHS Board.

Member

Joanna Kenny joined the NHS Orkney Board in February 2021 and brings expertise in developing partnerships with a wide range of stakeholders and using innovative engagement methods to widen participation in community learning and development. She led on quality improvement, staff development, and equality and diversity during a period of extensive organisational change. She was an early adopter of e-learning and is committed to digital inclusion, especially amongst rural and isolated communities.

Reappointment

This reappointment will be for 4 years and will run from 8 February 2025 to 7 February 2029.

This reappointment is regulated by the Ethical Standards Commissioner.

Remuneration

This reappointment is part-time and attracts a remuneration of £9,030 for a time commitment of 1 day per week.

Joanna Kenny does not hold any other public appointments.

Political activity

All appointments are made on merit and political activity plays no part in the selection process.  However, in accordance with the original Nolan recommendations, there is a requirement for appointees’ political activity within the last five years (if there is any to be declared) to be made public.   

Joanna Kenny has had no political activity within the last five years.

Background

NHS Orkney is responsible for meeting the health needs of around 21,500 people living in Orkney, and provides a comprehensive range of primary, community-based and acute hospital services tailored for the whole population.
